Yesteryear Collection

Its name is legendary, not only in the luxury car and trucking markets, but in the very annals of automotive history. Indeed, since 1926, the Mercedes-Benz company has been a vital partnership between the companies of two men - both of whom claim to have created the very first automobile. In 1896, Karl Benz obtained a patent for a three-wheeled vehicle powered by a 984 cc single-cylinder engine. In that same year, Gottlieb Daimler built a four-wheeled vehicle with a 469 cc single-cylinder engine. It was Daimler's vehicles which in 1900 would be christened Mercedes - naned after the daughter of an agent. And these Mercedes would point towards the future name of the legendary automaker: Mercedes-Benz. By 1912, Daimler's Mercedes were inspining automakers in France, Germany, England and the U.S. Many Mercedes vehicles were adapted for different needs, particularly by fire brigades who saw the advantage of Daimler's powerful motor vehicles over the horse-drawn steamers of the day. Now, a classic 1912 Mercedes-Benz Fire Engine is re-created in magnificent detail in a precision-engineered die-cast model. The 1912 Mercedes-Benz Fire Engine had been created for The International Fire Engine Collection: The Turn-of-the-Century Edition.
